Dog breeds for families 1

When looking for a family dog, you need a dog that is first and foremost, safe for the kids. Your kids are your number one priority meaning you want a dog that won’t hurt the kids during play. Then, you need a dog that kids will find fun playing with. For this reason, you need a dog that’s hardy and won’t be injured at the slightest play. You don’t want a dog that’s too dull either because you and your kids will be losing out when it comes to play time. When you want the best dog for your family, think of the dog as part of the family.

Think of going out on adventures with your dog, think of seeing off the kids to school, think of a dog that will be there when your kids throw their first tantrums or taste lemon for the first time. Your dog should experience all that with you. I have compiled a list of top ten best dog breeds for family. So without further ado, let’s get to it.
The Labrador retriever

These dogs love to please humans. They are quite reliable, loving and also happen to be protective. This dog is a good dog breed for families. We have discussed about this dog in an earlier post. Check out the article dog breeds for single ladies I. The details are listed therein.

Irish setter

You want a high energy dog when looking for a family dog. This dog is full of energy which means a lot of playtime for your children. The only downside to this dog breed is the fact that their lifespans are short. Other than that, the Irish setter socializes perfectly with children. Some of the dogs of this breed may be at constant loggerheads with cats.

If you leave this dog unattended, chances are that he/she will get bored or even become over active. Ensure that you always give this breed enough attention and exercise. You should not expect any guarding instincts with this dog. Housebreaking this dog is easy but you will need to have a firm disposition.
Golden retriever

This dog breed fits in with anyone. It is a versatile dog breed. It is a pretty balanced dog too. It has energy, patience, and is also quite helpful. What else would you want in a dog? This is a proper service dog. There is a full description of this breed in the article dog breeds for single ladies I in the list of articles in this blog.

Newfoundland

These dogs are not only large in size, but also have a big heart. It’s hard to spend time with this breed and not fall in love. You might have to contend with drooling and shedding for most part. You have to remember that this dog is best kept in large spaces, so apartments are not ideal for this furball.

Beagle

This is a small dog breed in hunter dog category. This dog has smarts and can keep up with the active families because it is packed with lots of energy. It’s still a hardy breed able to withstand rough kids and is still portable nonetheless. These dogs are quite sassy; they howl and they bark. However, this breed is not good with apartments.

Grooming for this dog requires a keen eye. This dog requires constant bathing and brushing. Beagle howling can be very entertaining at times.
