Dog breeds for single ladies II

German shepherd

This dog breed is a large sized breed aptly named because it comes from Germany. It displays remarkable intelligence, obedience and strength. This dog breed is quite easy to train and is therefore used in search and rescue missions.

This is a proper guardian dog which explains why they are good for law enforcement. This dog breed can be good protector but you have to obedience train him/her carefully. Failure to do so can lead to aggression as he/she protects the loved ones. They have been known to have terrible bites if they are not well trained.

The German shepherd is quite confident and self-assured and also shows focus and obedience if training is done right. This dog aims to have a purpose. The outside coat comes off throughout the year.

Pomeranian

If you love attention then this is the right dog to get those ‘aww’ moments. This dog is very cute. Due to its small size, it’s classified as a toy dog breed. They have different colored coats so you have a wide range to choose from.

Grooming is not difficult but you might want to do it every day so that you retain the quality of the coat. Trimming can be done every one month or two. When you find the coat forming knots, it’s probably shedding.

You might have seen on the street that Pomeranians are quite friendly and overly playful. Don’t be fooled by their size because they can be quite protective. The constant barking is because it is their form of response to new stimuli around them. Sometimes, they can become aggressive if they have not been trained well.

Training Pomeranians is not difficult because they accept to be trained. Large families might not be suited for this dog because they are somewhat fragile.

When you get this dog, you can expect a lot of entertainment. Think of this dog like an entertaining companion. You might not even notice you are single. However, they are good watch dogs. There are some ways to train this dog to stop barking because this breed does not know when to stop barking.

Maltese

This is what you would call a small dog breed in the toy breed category. These breeds come from Malta, a Mediterranean island nation. This breed has a rounded skull and a black button like nose.
This is a good selection for people with dog allergies due to the fact that it does not shed. It normally has a long coat but most dog owners will go for a cut. The entire body coat of this dog is cut to one equal length of about an inch.

This dog does not seem to grow old because it maintains its energy levels even as it ages. It retains its playful demeanor and energy levels. Therefore, you can expect lively moments filled with lots of play time.

Young kids tend to provoke this breed but enough socializing at earlier ages will reduce this. Supervise your dog when you are around kids.

With this dog, you will not have to worry about being alone. The Maltese loves being around people. No worries with the yard; it likes small yards and loves enclosed areas. It is challenging to house break these dog breed so you might have to invest in a litter box in the house or put a small doggy door leading up to the yard.

When you are away, this dog tends to suffer separation anxiety, and might bark a lot. Grooming entails lots of brushing and combing and should be as frequent as possible.

Papillon

This name is French meaning butterfly. And you bet this dog is as beautiful as a butterfly. You will notice the ears have fringed hair which is where the butterfly shape comes from.

Don’t be fooled by the dog's small size because this dog is quite intelligent. It has a self-assured demeanor which makes your work easier when it comes to teaching new tricks. Just like most small dog breeds, the Papillon can be aggressive if not socialized properly. However, if she/he has been properly socialized, the Papillon is very sociable, happy, and friendly and loves resting in the owner’s arms. They can also be quite curious.

This breed is easily affected by cold because it has a single coat so don’t leave him/her in the cold. There are numerous color choices when it comes to this breed. Ensure you walk the dog often just as you would with other breeds.
